Memorial to suffragette leaders Emmeline Pankhurst and Christabel Pankhurst at Victoria Tower Gardens beside the Palace of Westminster. The memorial commemorates Emmeline Pankhurst and, through later additions, Christabel Pankhurst and the Women’s Social and Political Union. Its main element is a cast bronze statue of Emmeline Pankhurst by Arthur George Walker on a stone plinth designed by Sir Herbert Baker. Historic England notes that the side screens and bronze medallions were added later by Peter Hills; one medallion depicts Christabel Pankhurst and the other the WSPU prison brooch. In 2018, a proposal to move the memorial to Regent’s University London attracted strong public opposition and was withdrawn.
