This website began through volunteering, as an experimental student-professor collaboration seeking to create useful digital companions to the 'Breaking the Bronze Ceiling' physical book.

Since then, the project has evolved thanks to many other actors: academics, historians, but principally volunteer researchers and contributors to public domain media. Without their resources, the database could hardly be as rich.
