A 5.5-meter-tall abstract monument honoring Maria Theresa, the only woman to rule on the Czech throne. Designed by sculptor Jan Kovářík and architect Jan Proksa, the statue is made of artificial stone and shows Maria Theresa as a simple silhouette without detailed features or decoration. It was unveiled in Maria Theresa Park in October 2020 after Prague 6 first announced a competition for the monument in 2013. The monument received criticism for both its unusual appearance and the decision to honor Maria Theresa. Critics pointed to parts of her rule including religious persecution, oppression of subjects, and the wars fought during her reign.
