A white marble statue of Czech writer and women’s rights advocate Eliška Krásnohorská. Karla Vobišová-Žáková won the competition to create the monument in 1927, and it was unveiled in Charles Square in 1931. The statue was carved from a single block of Romanian marble and shows Krásnohorská in a long dress and cape, holding papers at her waist. Krásnohorská was involved in the Czech women’s movement and helped establish Minerva, Prague’s first girls’ grammar school. The monument is now listed as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
