Mother Armenia is a monumental statue overlooking the city of Gyumri from a hill in Victory Park. Erected in 1975 during the Soviet period, the monument represents Armenia through the figure of a woman and is similar to the Mother Armenia complex in Yerevan. The statue was created by sculptors Ara Sargsian, Gaspar Gasparyan, and Yerem Vartanyan, with Rafik Yeghoyan as the architect. Rather than portraying a specific person, the female figure serves as a symbol of Armenia and gives the monument a larger national meaning.
